Additional information

Type of Bait: Biocidal product, product type 14, ready-to-use, red-colored rodenticide granules.

Classification: Pesticide in Category II distribution. For use exclusively by professionals and trained personnel.

Usage: For use indoors and around buildings to exterminate brown rats (Rattus norvegicus) and house mice (Mus musculus).

Dosage of METATOX Professional Granulate for mouse extermination:
For average rodent infestation: 5-20 grams of bait per bait station every 5 meters
For high rodent infestation: 5-20 grams of bait per bait station every 2 meters

Dosage of METATOX Professional Granulate for rat extermination:
Average infestation: 50–100 grams of bait per bait station every 10 meters.
Severe infestation: 50–100 grams of bait per bait station every 5 meters.

Dosage of METATOX Professional Granulate for sewer rat extermination in channels and networks:
Place 200–300 g of bait every 30–50 meters in sewers (do not exceed 300 g per baiting point). Secure bait stations to structures to prevent displacement by water.

Instructions for Use:

  • Conduct an on-site inspection to identify the rodents, determine their activity areas, and assess the causes and extent of the infestation.
  • Before placing the poisoned bait, evaluate whether the observed rodent problem can be effectively resolved without using rodenticides (e.g., mechanical traps for minor mouse infestations).
  • Use the product in areas where the presence of mice or rats is detected.
Rodent activity can be identified by characteristic signs such as nests, burrows, runways, droppings, or damage caused by gnawing. Assess the level of rodent infestation based on visible signs or damage and carry out the treatment accordingly.
  • The product should only be used as part of an integrated pest management (IPM) system, including hygiene measures and physical control methods where applicable.
  • Before treatment, remove all accessible food sources for rodents if possible. However, do not clean the infested area excessively, as this may disturb the rodents and make bait acceptance more difficult.
  • Use lockable rodent bait stations to prevent access by children, unauthorized persons, birds, and domestic or farm animals.
  • If possible, secure bait stations to the ground or other structures.
  • Place bait stations primarily along walls, under cabinets, and behind furniture, ensuring that rodents can consume a sufficient amount of bait to die. Place the bait in the stations to prevent rodents from carrying it away. Place the bait in doses in the stations, minimizing dust formation (e.g., use a damp wipe).
  • Provide water alongside the bait, as it attracts rodents.
  • Protect the bait from direct water, rain, and adverse weather conditions.
  • During the first two weeks: For mice: Check bait stations every 2–3 days. For rats: Check bait stations every 5–7 days. Replace consumed, spoiled, or moldy bait. Continue inspections weekly afterward.
  • If the bait remains untouched but rodents are still present, relocate the bait.
  • If the treatment appears ineffective, seek advice from the manufacturer or pest control professionals.
If bait consumption continues after a 35-day treatment cycle without a reduction in rodent activity, determine the probable causes. If all other causes are ruled out, the rodents are likely resistant. In such cases, consider using non-anticoagulant products (e.g., traps).
  • Do not use the bait in areas where resistance to the active ingredient is suspected.
  • Do not use multiple anticoagulant products with different active ingredients simultaneously for resistance comparison or treatment. For rotation, consider using non-anticoagulant products or stronger anticoagulants if available.
  • To minimize risks, dead rodents should be removed during treatments (at least twice weekly).
  • Due to the delayed effect of the anticoagulant, rodent death is expected 4-10 days after consumption.
  • Bait should only be left out as long as rodent activity justifies it; however, an individual treatment period must not exceed 35 days.
  • Depending on infestation severity, treatment may take 2-6 weeks.
  • After treatment, collect bait stations and clean up any spilled rodenticide.

Warnings:
Read the instructions for use before application!
For rodent control only and must be used according to the instructions for use!
Bait stations must always be marked with a warning label.
Clearly indicate that the station contains rodenticide; it must not be moved or opened. The label should include the name or authorization number of the bait, its active ingredient, antidote, the service provider's name, address, phone number, and the contact details of the Toxicology Center
When used in open areas, indicate the treatment area and period, and warn about the risks of primary and secondary poisoning with anticoagulants. Specify the actions to take in case of potential poisoning.
Use chemical-resistant protective gloves when handling the rodenticide.
Eating, drinking, and smoking are prohibited during handling. After handling the bait, thoroughly wash hands with warm, soapy water.
Place bait in areas inaccessible to children, domestic and farm animals, and birds. The product is toxic to mammals and birds. Dogs, cats, pigs, and other predators or scavengers may be poisoned if they consume rats or mice killed or weakened by the rodenticide. Do not use the product to kill non-target animals.
Do not release the product into water bodies. If bait stations are placed near surface waters or drainage systems, ensure that the bait does not come into contact with water.
During and between treatments, do not wash the interior of bait stations with water.
Contaminated or spoiled bait must not be used.
Store separately from food, beverages, and feed, in a dry, cool place, out of reach of children, unauthorized persons, birds, and domestic or farm animals.

First Aid:
In case of suspected poisoning, seek medical attention immediately and show the label to the doctor!

If swallowed:
Immediately contact a doctor and show the product’s packaging or label.

  • Induce vomiting only under explicit medical instruction.
  • Rinse the mouth with water. Do not eat or drink. Rest in a warm place and inform a doctor.
  • Do not give anything orally to an unconscious person.
  • In case of poisoning in domestic or farm animals, consult a veterinarian immediately.

If in contact with skin:

  • Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.
  • Wash the skin thoroughly with soap and water.
  • If symptoms occur, consult a doctor.

If in contact with eyes:

  • Keep the eyes open and rinse gently with plenty of water for several minutes.
  • If contact lenses are present, remove them and continue rinsing the eyes.
  • If symptoms occur, consult a doctor.

Guidance for Doctors:
The product contains bromadiolone, an anticoagulant active ingredient. Ingestion of the rodenticide may reduce blood clotting ability and cause internal bleeding.
Symptoms of poisoning or exposure may take several days to appear.
When treating a poisoned individual who exhibits characteristic symptoms (e.g., nosebleeds, gum bleeding, hemoptysis, blood in urine, prolonged clotting times, large or multiple hematomas, sudden onset of unusual visceral pain), administer Vitamin K1. If bleeding is not observed, monitor the individual and measure prothrombin time (INR) 48–72 hours after exposure. If INR >4, administer Vitamin K1 intravenously. Multiple treatments may be required.
Antidote: Vitamin K1
(The effectiveness of treatment must be verified by laboratory testing.)

Waste Disposal:
To prevent public health hazards and secondary poisoning, rodents killed during treatment must be removed during inspections. Collect dead rodents using protective gloves and an inverted plastic bag, then place them in another bag, knot it tightly, and seal it. Place the double-bagged carcasses in a closed waste container; the disposal of product residues and waste is treated as municipal waste.

After the treatment, dismantle the bait stations. Ensure the cleanup of any spilled rodenticide.
After treatment, dismantle the bait stations. Collect any remaining rodenticide, rodent control equipment, and bait stations. Ensure that any spilled rodenticide is cleaned up. Rodenticide that can no longer be used for its intended purpose and becomes waste must be treated as hazardous waste and handed over to a hazardous waste collection site.

Classification of product waste (Waste Key/EWC Code):
07 04                   Organic pesticides (excluding 02 01 08 and 02 01 09), wood preservatives (excluding 03 02), and biocides from manufacturing, packaging, distribution, and use.
07 04 13*             Solid waste containing hazardous substances.

Hazard Statement (H-phrase):
